Are you one of the 53% of Americans who travel with their pets? If so, we’d love to welcome you to our destination so below are a few ideas for your stay.

Welcoming Puppy Water Stations

Many of our downtown businesses have water dishes set out to help accommodate your doggies. Look for these stylish dishes at pet-friendly stops created in partnership with a local shop owner, Sarah Schroeder of Minnesota Made.

Trails and Treats

The best attraction for those traveling with a pet is the great outdoors, so get those ears to perk up with “wanna go on a walk?” and hit the trails. Stillwater, Minnesota has several beautiful paved trails you can walk with your dog – Brown’s Creek Trail (5.9 miles), St. Croix River Crossing Loop Trail (4.7 miles), the riverwalk and grassy area of Lowell Park or just north of downtown along the St. Croix river at the historic Boom Site. In addition, just south of the Loop trail you can connect to City of Oak Park Heights paved trails at Oak Park Crossing that lead into the forest.

If you are walking up the hill into the historic neighborhoods with your four legged friends, you can stop by Nelson’s Ice Cream for a pup ice cream or in the South Hill area, Sara’s Tipsy Pies for greek yogurt banana cheese bacon treats or Coffee Paw Cafe where local pups are featured stars in their restroom and owners can grab a Kombucha on tap.

For those on the Brown’s Creek trail you can take a break for a German beer in the pine woods at The Gasthaus with your dog on weekends or keep walking a few more miles onto the Gateway State Trail. From here you can head north towards Pine Point Park where you’ll discover Gateway Trailside, a food truck along the trail.

Bring your pet along for a day on the river with a Pontoon rental at Stillwater Boat Club & Rentals.
