Countdown to Connection: May Giveaways

Soon, it’s really going to happen – the final section of the St. Croix River Crossing Loop Trail including the historic lift bridge is set to open by the end of May 2020. We waited sixty years for the St. Croix Crossing Bridge to be built and two years for the historic lift bridge to be converted to a multi-use trail crossing.

We can’t contain our excitement, so we are launching a “countdown to connection” campaign to celebrate the entire month of May. Connect with us daily for opportunities to win prizes from local businesses. We are thrilled to reward our loyal followers with these great perks! You’ll need to follow Discover Stillwater’s Facebook, Instagram, or Enewsletter to be eligible to win. Increase your odds even more by connecting on all three because we are giving away a prize every day on all three platforms!

The St. Croix River Crossing Loop Trail opened in August 2017 so the majority of the trail has already been enjoyed by thousands of visitors walking, biking, segway tours, electric wheelchairs, and even hoverboards. The entire trail is 4.7 miles around connecting Minnesota to Wisconsin over the St. Croix River across two bridges. This final section set to open by June 2020 is the historic lift bridge downtown Stillwater and an uphill path on the Wisconsin side that connects to the rest of the Loop Trail in Houlton, WI.

Stillwater, Minnesota’s iconic historic lift bridge built in 1931 is now a beaming green beauty floating above that sparkling blue St. Croix River water. She is so close to being able to welcome downtown visitors and connect them to the Wisconsin side of the river! Psst…a local secret is that one of the best views of downtown Stillwater is from across the shore so we know you’ll not only love being able to walk just above the St. Croix River on the bridge, but you’ll also have the gift of the postcard view once you get to the other side.

Here’s a link to view map of the bike trails or you can order a complimentary 2020 Discover Stillwater Visitor Guide with includes the bike trail map via mail. Please note that official celebrations have been postponed to August and the Hands Across the St. Croix event until May 2021.
