Fun Fact: Earth Day Started Near Stillwater

Gaylord Nelson, who was the founder of Earth Day , grew up in Clear Lake, Wisconsin, which is about 20 miles east of Stillwater. Nelson was also the chief author of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, which included the St. Croix and Namekagon.
